Members of Hejie Family Mediation Work Station (in Xiapei, a village in Shangrao, a city in East China's Jiangxi Province) were pleased recently, after they learned the couple, who received mediation, were on good terms again.
The station has formulated a system, in which women volunteers (from Shangrao's villages and towns) take turns handling (for free) residents' visits. The station has also helped many residents resolve disputes with relatives and/or neighbors.
Earlier this year, Shangrao Women's Federation initiated a campaign to encourage workers with women's federations, at all levels across the city, to help strengthen the region's social governance at the grass-roots level. Many of the federations have offered mediation services to help residents resolve disputes.
Shangrao Women's Federation and the Politics and Law Commission, under Shangrao Municipal Party (Communist Party of China) Committee, during the past several months have conducted various activities (across the city) to help residents improve their understanding of the laws and regulations, especially those pertaining to the protection of women and children's legal rights and interests. The activities have been well received.
